Within two blocks of Northgate Trace is a neighborhood classic, the iconic Northgate Soda Shop. It was opened in 1947 and is home to a great Pimento Cheeseburger (noted by Southern Living), and other stupendously delicious fare, along with many old Greenville photos and artifacts. It’s right across the street from the North Main Rotary Park, a restored hidden gem of a neighborhood park featuring a baseball field, basketball court, walking path, and children’s playground.
Within a few more blocks is the larger McPherson Park, Greenville’s oldest park built in 1884. The park includes tennis courts, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a playground, and walking trail, all within the context of beautiful old trees and a small stream.
