SouthLand Properties is a small family-owned business with a three-person team to serve our tenants — our founder, Nancy Baldwin, and two property managers, Christine and Jean.
Nancy Baldwin
Nancy grew up in Greenville, SC, attended school at Greenville High School, and graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg with a degree in psychology and a minor in biology, a subject she loved. Her first job out of college was as an artist for a biological supply company in Burlington, NC, where she produced study sheets and models, specializing in botany. While in Burlington, she rented an apartment in a small strip apartment center. She returned to Greenville to gain her teacher’s certificate in biology through Furman College, then taught biology at Wade Hampton High School, at the time the newest and fourth public school in Greenville. She also taught biology in Charleston at a small private school called College Preparatory School, then returned to Greenville where she taught at Christ Church Episcopal School.
Nancy is the creative business mind behind SouthLand Properties. She loves the history and heritage of Greenville, and acquires properties with those facets in mind. She has roamed every street in Greenville and is familiar with countless neighborhoods. She researches and buys the properties she “falls in love with” and then manages their renovations and upgrades.
Nancy also serves on several Home Owners Association boards in order to advocate for sensible tenant rights and services and provide a tenants’ perspective on property maintenance and services. She also serves as a backup for the two property managers, Christine and Jean.
Nancy still loves plants and spends her free time gardening, exercising, and reading biographies, mysteries, and historical novels.
Christine Baldwin Perkins
Christine serves as a primary property manager for SouthLand Properties. She graduated from Wingate University in Wingate, NC with a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure and has developed a 15-year career in mortgage loans for homebuilders, local South Carolina banks, and large national mortgage banking firms.
Like SouthLand’s founder Nancy, Christine loves gardening, enjoys finance, and spends much of her free time with her family, her husband and two daughters.
Jean Lyndon Baldwin
Jean is a primary property manager for SouthLand and the original and first addition to the SouthLand team for tenant services. Like Christine, Jean focuses on maintaining our properties and responding to tenant needs. She graduated from St Mary’s School in Raleigh, NC, then received her degree in education at the College of Charleston. After graduation, she taught elementary grades in Greenville public schools and worked at Pepsi-Cola in marketing, before beginning work with SouthLand Properties.
Jean is gifted in interior design and hospitality, and enjoys entertaining, cultivating warm, caring relationships, and spending time with her family, a primary focus.
